Let’s get this outta the way:
None of the posts here represent the opinions, beliefs, and thoughts of anyone but myself.
Hello, I’m your host, Mike Kelley. I’ve been running a “blog” before they were called “blogs” but this one has been going on and off since 2000. I have more of a classical view of weblogs, as personal insights sometimes commentary on current events and miscellaneous stuff from around the web.
I currently use WordPress to maintain this site, but I’m well-versed in most of the blogging CMS’s out there. Handcoded and managed the site for about a year and a half before I moved to Blogger, then to a custom built CMS (on an Access database and ASP - ick!) for about two months, then to the ancient NewsPro, then back to Blogger, then to MovableType for about 5 or 6 years, and then a break, then here (in the present) using WordPress.
By trade, I’m a web designer and project manager for a large company and my responsibilities include oversight of design, usability, analytics, SEO/SEM, Flash, AJAX, web standards for the internet and intranet as well as our portals. We’ve won awards, made numerous people happy, saved and made the company money and are an agile little group of web marketers.
Personally, I’m 34, married, have two cats, and live in Ringgold, Georgia, a small rural community about 10 minutes south of Chattanooga, Tennessee. I’ve been in the area all my life, but I’ve traveled across this great country of ours and have some favorite spots. I’m a musician, played drums since I was 12, and currently I’m in a few different bands. I don’t have a “favorite” music, per-se’, I enjoy all kinds from different genres. I’m also a “foodie” and love to cook and view restaurants as my entertainment. My cooking is a lot like my music, my art, my work, etc…where it’s experimental at times, random, outside of the box, and occasionally good.
For technology, I fight being a geek. I was a Windows, UNIX, and Mac systems administrator for years. I know my way around a motherboard, shell account, and GUI. I try to consider myself computer agnostic, with the ability to do my work on whatever system I have in front of me. Personal preference….OS X, but I currently have XP at home. Tech talk, really bores me. I can do it in my sleep, no adventure….sure, I could easily go back to that life, but I’d be hungry for creativity and for a challenge.
Well, that’s everything in a nutshell. If you have a question just find the contact form.
